Panasonic Toughbook supports the Gumpathon

Panasonic Toughbook is helping six members of the armed forces as they run across America to raise £3m for charities supporting injured service people on both sides of the Atlantic. The team will have two rugged Panasonic Toughbook CF-52’s with them on their eight-week journey to help stay in touch with friends, family, supporters and the media via email and blogging. The team set-off on September 10th, 2011.

Inspired by Forest Gump’s epic run across America, The Gumpathon is the brain-child of Colour Sergeant Damian Todd who decided to go ahead with the idea after a close friend was left severely disabled following a tour in Afghanistan. The Gumpathon route stretches 3,500 miles from New York to LA, crossing three deserts, four time zones and ten mountain ranges which climb to over 10,000 feet.

All money raised from the Gumpathon will go towards helping injured service people through the work of three charities: Help for Heroes (H4H), the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and the US Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. All three raise funds to support wounded and ill members of the Armed Forces, and their families, throughout their recovery period.

Donations of £5 can be made to the Gumpathon by texting GUMP to 70800.
