On 8 April 2014, Microsoft is ending its support for Windows XP.

But what does that mean for you and your business?

What are the challenges and opportunities?

If you haven’t already started thinking about the possible challenges and opportunities, you don’t have a moment to lose.

Be safe and secure

  • The end of support for Windows XP means no new security updates, security hotfixes, assisted support options or online technical content updates.
  • This exposes you to potential risks, such as security threats, compliance liabilities and even downtime for your business.

Take cost into account

  • IDC research* shows that older technology, such as Windows XP, is far more expensive to maintain than newer solutions such as Windows 8 – offering benefits well beyond keeping you supported.
  • With the recent release of Windows 8.1 Pro, your organisation can benefit from even more new features, ideal for business users, making it the fastest, most secure and easiest-to-manage Microsoft operating system for laptops or tablets.
  • It offers more flexibility allowing your employees to be more productive, while increasing operational efficiency through improved PC security and management. It also enables your organisation to take advantage of latest technology trends, such as virtualization and the cloud.

Keep up with change

  • Many software and hardware vendors will no longer support their products that run on Windows XP.
  • Windows 8.1 Pro supports the newest versions of your business applications.
  • What’s more, upgrading your hardware brings a wealth of benefits too!
